lyrics

[Verse 1]
He was just a normal guy,
Worked in an office, nine to five,
Grinding hard to make a life,
Never thought about a wife.
Later he would see her there,
Her jacket on, strapped in a chair,
On her hand a bunch of knives,
Maybe she had taken lives?

The hospital was on a hill,
More a termite mound but still,
Underneath a train tracks shrill,
A gate so high and made of steel.
Towering into the sky,
A concrete tube, my oh my,
No windows, walls are bare and blank,
Is this fate? His ego shrank.

[Chorus]
Our man was quite a humble guy,
Made music but he didn't pry,
His heart was good, his eyes were dry,
And so they met this fateful night,
The first time that he saw this lass,
In the hallways moving fast,
Searching for the man to ask,
Is this a dream or am I mad?

[Verse 2]
Her soft sad eyes had brought him in,
And so he couldn't help but think,
Who is she and why the shrink?
The cold dead walls, his eyes won't blink,
She was there beyond the glass,
And so our man had to ask,
May I meet this girl at last?
And talk to her, maybe chat?

The boss agreed, and it would seem,
She was normal, sub cutlery,
The pair of them bonded well,
And so the friendship started to swell,
He'd visit there almost daily,
To meet his new found favourite lady,
To talk about meaningless gunk,
And fill her day up with his junk.

[Chorus]
Our man was quite a humble guy,
Made music but he didn't pry,
His heart was good, his eyes were dry,
And so they met this fateful night,
The first time that he saw this lass,
In the hallways moving fast,
Searching for the man to ask,
Is this a dream or am I mad?

[Verse 3]
At night he wondered many times,
How the city was so white,
The light shone bright upon that sight,
But the hospital was black as night,
It couldn't be the railway bridge,
Could it be more like a fridge?
That when the button is pressed down,
The darkness comes, doomed to drown.

A proposition in his head,
To bring this lady to his bed,
Together they would share a night,
If all went well, their whole damn lives,
On his way no to the mound,
He heard a distant shrieking sound,
When he got there, she was unbound,
And lying naked on the ground.

[Chorus]
Our man was quite a humble guy,
Made music but he didn't pry,
His heart was good, his eyes were dry,
And so they met this fateful night,
The first time that he saw this lass,
In the hallways moving fast,
Searching for the man to ask,
Is this a dream or am I mad?

[Verse 4]
He saw her body lying there,
Shaking, naked, cold and bare,
A big bright cut right down her back,
And blood shone from the knife in crack,
All at once it hit him dead,
His face began to turn bright red,
He knew what she had tried to do,
And our man just couldn't bare to view.

Our lady had been feeling good,
Tired of this dooming hood,
Wanted out of this bound up life,
And so she used her finger knife,
Unfortunate for her it seems,
The knife went deeper than she dreamed,
And so instead of being released,
She was lying down, cold, deceased.

[Chorus]
Our man was quite a humble guy,
Made music but he didn't pry,
His heart was good, his eyes were dry,
And so they met this fateful night,
The first time that he saw this lass,
In the hallways moving fast,
Searching for the man to ask,
Is this a dream or am I mad?

[Verse 5]
Upon returning to the city,
Our man, overcome with pity,
Threw seeds into the little fountain,
Remembering that unholy mountain,
He often did return back there,
His memories he couldn't bare,
He'd meet the boss, but they spoke rare,
Life goes on, it isn't fair.

[Chorus]
Our man was quite a humble guy,
Made music but he didn't pry,
His heart was good, his eyes were dry,
But then they met that fateful night,
The last time that he saw this lass,
In the hallways moving fast,
Searching for the man to ask,
Is this a dream or am I mad?
